winter warmth

I'd love a new cozy scarf type thing
I've seen these type of scarves called cowls and snoods and infinity scarves
whatever they're called, I quite fancy one this winter

take flight

Taking chances
letting go
its the scariest thing but whats the worst that could happen

This year I left my job to go back to college to do a post graduate teaching qualification, its very full time and pretty taxing as I'm in school or college all day and then have assignments and paperwork and planning and reading to do at the same time
I am happier than I have been for awhile
I feel on my way to achieving my identity and being where I want to be
I'm having lots of fun with the other people who are doing the course
I never thought I'd be a teacher but I think it will be a good fit for me
its all very exciting

are you taking new challenges?

I love Bradford

Awhile ago I wrote a rambling post where I tried to get across some of my love and my story of Bradford and how I came to be here.
This weekend Bradford has been n the news as a group calling themselves the English Defense League held a protest here. This group brought banners declaring Islam to be against England and seemed to come with the aim of inciting racial hatred and race riots.
The people of Bradford showed however that this is not our view.
Bradford has come along way since 2001.
I can't work out how to embed a video from youtube but this was made by hope not hate
Oddly enough I know two of the people in this fairly well

The South of France

The other day I put up some pictures from my time in France but all of Paris
I actually spent most of my time in this gorgeous village in the Cevanne mountains in the south of France
I spent a good deal of each day looking after this little girl

and wondering around this beautiful old streets, finding hidden places and secret doors
I also got to see this, the Pont du Gare, an amazing three storey aqueduct
then the week after, we canoed underneath it

pretty nice really

Summertime in France

For the past few years I've moved house every single summer
I hate it
I'd like to be able to live in one place a little longer than a year really
This year was another mad dash to move house and then go away
I've spent three weeks this august working as an au pair for a French family
We spent most of the time in the south but I also had a couple of days at their apartment in Paris and was very fortunate to be able to meet up with my cousin who is studying in Paris this summer. We took advantage of the fact that if you're 25 or under and an EU citizen then the Louvre is free
I'd like to spend a bit longer in Paris, its such a beautiful easy city.

little bit of a change

I've been meaning to write here for awhile and just haven't managed it because I knew I'd have to faff around and change the header and things like that. a squirrel doesn't really mean very much.

I love this picture and am very pleased to have taken it myself on my not particularly good and rather battered and elderly camera.
The picture was taken in April this year walking back to Sligo from Ross' Point on the west coast of Ireland.
I was very fortunate to be able to have 4 days in Sligo with some friends staying in a small room in the cellar of a Methodist chapel for free. the only costs were transport and food. The people I went to stay with (Ro, Nina and Lavinia) have been going for a few years and sleeping in the church and they asked if I'd like to join them. I travelled a few days after the others as I needed to be in Bradford. I went by train and ferry and foolishly travelled over night which was exhausting but did mean I saw the sunrise over Dublin port which was beautiful.
We were very blessed to have beautiful weather and and went for long walks and swam in the sea. the one day that wasn't so nice we spent looking in charity shops and sitting and reading and playing card games in a coffee shop.
all in all a very nice holiday
